The premise
No favorites. The whole town.
Most travel sites show you what their partners paid to show you. Pacifica Guide is the other kind: an independent catalog of every beach, trail, restaurant, landmark, and visitor-serving business in Pacifica, California, built by people who actually live here.
Editorial policy
Nobody can pay to be listed, ranked, or recommended here — not a business, not a tourism board, not a "destination partner." Listings earn their place by existing; recommendations earn theirs by being true. Anything positioned as first-hand was visited by the person whose name is on it, with the date of the visit shown.
Some listing pages include machine-assisted summaries generated from verified structured data (locations, hours, fees, official records). Those are always grounded in the facts on the page, never invented, and are reviewed on an ongoing schedule — each page shows when it was last verified.
Data & attribution
The catalog is built on open data, conflated and verified: Wikidata (CC0), the National Park Service (Golden Gate National Recreation Area), California State Parks (CC BY), San Mateo County Parks, the National Register of Historic Places, Foursquare Open Source Places (Apache 2.0), Overture Maps (CDLA-Permissive 2.0), and OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL) where noted on individual pages.
